Our Mission

CAST is a non-profit organization focused on meeting critical counter-terrorism and national security problems, with the objectives of providing a better understanding of new threats, analytical tools and effective responses for both the government and private sector.

 

CAST's mission is to help the Government and the public understand the nature and the magnitude of evolving terrorist threats against the U.S. and its allies, and formulate effective responses to the challenge of worldwide terrorism.

 

CAST conducts evidence-based research on the actual and potential uses of terrorist tactics against the United States, its allies as well as the commercial sector to provide policy guidance and practical solutions to government officials and private sector decision-makers that will improve the ability to prevent, recovery from, and respond effectively to terrorist actions. 

 

CAST utilizes experts who come from the policy and operational communities with experience in intelligence, law enforcement as well as new technologies.  Here CAST cooperates with government experts; specialists in the commercial sectors; as well as researchers from other institutions whenever possible to improve the quality of fact-gathering, analysis, and policy evaluation.

 

CAST publishes its research in multiple channels, and conducts briefings, seminars, lectures and its staff participate in larger symposia to disseminate its findings to policy makers, operational personnel, and the broader research community.

 

CAST is incorporated as a non-profit corporation and has been granted tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
